Fine and very rare stainless steel manual winding chronograph wristwatch with cream dial and 3 registers little bit tropical. Mark 1 bezel. Signed case, dial and movement.
One of the rarest Cosmograph models, reference 6264 was produced for a few years only in the early 1970s. Together with reference 6262, it was the last Rolex chronograph watch to be fitted with pump pushers. It is understood that only some 1,700 examples in stainless steel were ever made of reference 6264.
Along with the rarity of the model, the present watch is also eye catching due to the “Paul Newman PANDA” dial. The lightly brown on the white grainé with the red “Daytona” signature makes the watch very attractive. Preserved in very nice condition this rare reference with delightful “Paul Newman Panda / chocolate” dial is sure to please the most discerning of collectors.

Très rare et superbe chronographe bracelet en acier. Boîtier rond. Couronne et fond vissés. Lunette époxy Mark 1 avec échelle tachymétrique. Cadran crème avec 3 compteurs marrons, écriture Daytona en rouge et « T SWISS T » droit. Mouvement mécanique à roue à colonnes calibre 727.
L’un des modèles de Daytona Cosmograph les plus rares, la référence 6264 a été produite pendant quelques années au début des années 1970. Avec la référence 6262, il s’agit du dernier chronographe Rolex à être équipée de poussoirs lisses. Environ 1 700 exemplaires en acier inoxydable ont été fabriqués à partir de cette référence 6264.
En plus de la rareté exceptionnelle du modèle, la montre présentée ici attire également l’attention grâce au cadran “Paul Newman PANDA ». Les compteurs légèrement marronés sur le grainé blanc avec la signature rouge “Daytona” rendent la montre très attrayante. As part of our routine procedure and controls during the auction and catalogue preparation (i.e. removal of the movement from the case, control of the movement, detailed picturing of case, dial, etc…, this procedure is only done for vintage and important watches) the movement of lot 348A was mistakenly photographed in a wrong case.

Unfortunately during the catalogue preparation this has not been identified and as a consequence the auction catalogue was issued containing the misleading picture. Our buyer is informed and has been assured that this error has been identified and promptly solved and that the watch that has been delivered is 100% right, original and coherent in itself.
