Fine and rare, manual wind, stainless steel chronograph wristwatch with silver dial. Delivered to the Peruvian Air Force. Signed dial, case and movement. Ref. 6238. This reference, which collectors call the “Pre-Daytona“ was produced in stainless steel and in 14K and 18K gold. The reference 6238 is equipped with the caliber 72B or 722, the main differences between the Daytona and the pre-Daytona is the color of the dial (monochrome for the Pre-Daytona and colored for Daytona) and the tachymeter scale on the dial for Pre-Daytona and on the bezel for the Daytona (full steel bezel or steel with black plastic insert printed in white). It was published for the first time in the Rolex catalogue for the Italian Market in 1964 and remained there until 1968. Its production is estimated at 3,600 examples from 1962 to 1967.

Très belle et rare montre-bracelet en acier, Chronographe 3 compteurs, cadran couleur argent. Mouvement mécanique. Délivrée aux forces armées Péruviennes. REF. 6238. Cette référence est appelée par les collectionneurs ‘Pre-Daytona’, elle a été produite en acier et en or 14K et 18k. La référence 6238 est équipée du calibre 72B ou 722, les différences les plus flagrantes entre la Pre-Daytona et la Daytona est la couleur du cadran (monochrome pour la Pre-Daytona et de couleur pour la Daytona) et bien entendu l’échelle tachymétrique pour la Pre-Daytona sur le cadran et pour la Daytona sur la lunette (en acier ou acier avec un insert en plastique imprimé en blanc). Elle a été publiée pour la première fois dans le catalogue Rolex pour le marché italien en 1964 et elle est restée disponible jusqu’en 1968. L’estimation de la production est d’environ 3600 pièces de 1962 à 1967.
