Despite the well known oversized Portugieser, Aquatimer or Ingenieur, IWC also dared with slightly atypical cases for its standards, an example is the “Cioccolatone” offered here. Made of yellow gold, its massive 32 × 32 mm case recalls the style of the watches of the period with more square shapes. Its preservation is admirable considering its age, the numbers on the case back are extremely well visible and even the steps are still evident. The argentè dial has that “agè” charm that many collectors appreciate and its composition with internal circular perlage and external applied baton indexes in gold is a remarkable expression of elegance.
