The Beta-21 caliber was developed by a consortium of watch companies at the Swiss Electronic Research Center or CEH (Centre Électronique Horloger) in Neuchâtel and was the first quartz movement for wristwatches with analog display. As a key member of the CEH, Piaget presented its first watch using a Beta 21 movement in 1970. The present lot is one of these specimens fully made in 18k white gold: its size is big in order to contain the huge movement and its 3 stepped edges are extremely well preserved despite the almost 50 years of age. The dial is special as well since have been used the onyx stone, whose black color creates a perfect marriage with the white of the case.
