From May through December 1972, Heuer produced a series of Autavia chronographs that were offered by the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company for the promotion of the Viceroy cigarette brand from which this watch derived the name. The present lot is a very nice example of Viceroy with the case made by Piquarez and is possible to understand it from the pushers that are fully visible only from front (while in Schmitz were visible from both front and back). The quality of these watch is definitely high with a remarkable black dial with white and red details and two big sundials for 30 seconds and 12 hours registration while at 6 o’clock is located the window for the date. The Heuer Autavia is one of the most famous vintage Heuer watches, so much so that it is virtually a brand in itself and the Viceroy is a really precious example to own most of all if it comes with the box such as the present watch and a Gay Freres bracelet.
