Reference 1680 was the first ever Submariner to feature a date and a cyclops lens in the plexiglass. Moreover it was the first Submariner to be produced in gold, for clients seeking for a touch of luxury with professional capabilities. The present example is a great specimen in yellow gold, absolutely rare with its originally black dial and unidirectional black bezel for checking decompression time spans. In superb overall condition, this 1680 has a sharp-edged case with nice yellow-gold Oyster bracelet. The black glossy dial has the esteemed nipple configuration with applied dot indexes for hours/minutes and Mercedes hands. The caliber is the automatic 3035.
