In 1927, as soon as Charles. A. Lindberg set foot on French soil after completing his crossing of the Atlantic in 33 hours and 30 minutes, his thought was aimed at developing a tool to improve this type of travel. Thus, in 1932 was introduced to the market the hour angle watch, designed for aircraft pilots to precisely locate and understand their position during flights. The watch here offered is a way smaller version of the gigantic 48mm case ideated in the 1930’s. The four body case of this lot has a 10k yellow gold with revolving ridged bezel with 15 degree graduations, graduated case band and crown activates the revolving central dial at 2 o’clock that was produced directly in America under license of Longines. Indeed the Swiss brand was manufactured and invoiced the movement on 4 April 1941 to the company Longines-Wittnauer Company, INC, that was at the time their agent for the USA soil where the whole watch was assembled as confirmed by the extract from the archives.
