In 1860, the young artisan watchmaker Louis-Ulysse Chopard, son of a farmer from Sonvilier, used to create works of art with innovative designs and at the early age of 24 quickly started conquering firstly Switzerland and later the whole world arriving even to the court of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. With the passage of the business to his son, Paul-Louis, the tradition of creating good quality and reliable watches continued manly thanks to the move of the production factories in the capital of watchmaking, Geneva. Thus it was that Chopard started specializing in the production of real jewel-watches, slowly earning a first-class place.
