The reference 5055 by Patek Philipe has been launched in 1998 and remained in production until it was discontinued in 2004. During these six years, it has been manufactured in all the precious materials such as yellow, white and pink-gold and platinum. Also the dials were a canvas where to indulge with white salmon or even black surfaces. The lot here offered is one of those manufactured with black gilt dial and white-gold case. Almost never worn by the previous owner, the 36 mm case has a wide inclined bezel, straight lapidated lugs and screw-down transparent case back. It is powered by the celebrated automatic movement with a microrotor caliber 240 Ps+IRM+C+LU. All these letters describe all the complications on this very watch: PS stands for Petite Seconde (small seconds), IRM for Indication de la Reserve de Marche (power reserve indication), C for Calendrier (date) and LU for Lune (moon phases). This beautiful movement can be admired through the sapphire display back. The black dial in addition to showing all these complications also bears the rare and appreciated signature of the world’s only retailer whose name appears on a Patek Philippe dial: Tiffany & Co. Elegant and satisfying, this lot also comes with original box, papers, booklets, setting pin, tag and additional straps.
