The Leonidas Watch Factory was founded in 1841 by Julien Bourquin in Saint-Imier and produced quite outstanding chronograph movements, because Jeanneret-Droz brought the necessary know-how with him. But Leonidas also manufactured instruments used in the automotive and aerospace areas, and thanks to this experience, in 1965 he was commissioned by the Italian military to produce a particular chronograph. The present lot here with the reference CP2 is one of the best examples ever appeared in the auction, with its mat black dial two counters, steel bidirectional bezel still in black that can be used by divers and also aviators (given its ability to indicate a second time zone). It is powered by a mechanical manual movement with flyback functions and completed by a Stainless Steel elastic bracelet. In excellent condition, very rare and historically important this watch is ready to be put in a military museum or in an important collection.
