Named Mistery thanks to its special case shape which were inspired by the work of illusionist Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin, these creations represent a technical and aesthetic tour de force in the history of both the Maison and of the decorative arts. The first model came to life in 1912, and the Maison’s production of the mystery clock continues to this day and is comprised of more than 1,600 pieces of jewellery, watches, clocks, and precious objects. The present lot has a fully 18k pink gold case extremely well preserved: no other decoration are needed to bring out its beauty. The essentiality is in command in this creation and this is also demonstrated by the very clean transparent crystal dial, spade hands, graduated bezel with black enamel numerals, cylindrical single lugs, movement signed Jaeger Le Coultre and outside of case the Cartier firm engraved.
