It was 1908 when the German Hans Wilsdorf coined the name Rolex giving life to what would become one of the most important watch industries of all time. The principles on which Rolex was and is still based today were those of research, experimentation, innovation and cutting-edge tests with scientific research, since Wilsdorf immediately realized that watches would become the future of the industry: soon tried to improve precision and efficiency without neglecting the aesthetics, presenting wristwatches with particular shapes. The present lot reference 3190 is one of these creations born according to the dictates of Hans Wilsdorf. The circular three-body stainless steel case has an unusual and very attractive wide stepped bezel with big winding crown and screw down back which shows the still deep and crisp numbers and the Rolex crown logo. The concealed lugs make it look like the watch is floating just like a UFO, which explains the nickname “flying saucer”. The dial has the always fascinating and rare three tone structure with arabic numerals, blue minutes and hours hands and red sweep centre seconds hand. A mix of essentiality and particularity this watch is a rare opportunity not to be missed.
