The present example cased in platinum is an oversized and luxurious interpretation of the iconic Santos watch firstly produced by Cartier in 1904. This contemporary piece is believed that was sold only at the Paris Cartier Boutique, with only four examples cased in platinum in total. This example, featuring blue numerals and a sapphire crown, was made in two pieces only, with the other two pieces featuring red numerals a ruby crown. The preservation of the massive case of 39 mm is notable with no sign of use and well-preserved edges. Platinum cases are without a doubt the most coveted and precious of all metals for all materials, most of all for the Santos since it has been manufactured mainly in yellow or pink gold.
