The lot offered here is a magnificent specimen of Omega cosmic, the first calendar watch simultaneously indicating the time and the date via hands, as well as the day, the month and the Moon phase in windows. The lot here strikes from the first sight with its three-body, solid case with downturned lugs, inset calendar adjusters to the band-case and snap-on-case back fully in steel and in mint conditions. The well proportioned and attractive dial has a glamorous black color with very rare Persian indexes, outer Persian graduation, apertures for the days of the week, the months and the moon phases. This is also confirmed by the Omega archives as the watch was delivered to Iran in 1953. A similar watch was sold by Phillip’s Auction House in Geneva in 2018 for CHF 156 250.
