Belonging to the Calatrava family, the reference 3928 was in the Patek’s catalogue from 1986 until 1999 and in its standard production was available in yellow or pink gold. Very few pieces were manufactured in stainless steel and were made upon the special request exclusively for Japanese retailer Isshin Dokei Co. Ltd., Tokyo, to commemorate Patek Philippe’s 150th in 1989 and the present lot is one of these specimens. The two body case in steel is finely preserved with its concave lugs, stepped bezel and snap on back with no evident signs of wearing. The dial is silvered with applied faceted steel baton indexes, subsidiary seconds dial, outer minute division and steel dauphine hands. Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in steel in 1987 and its subsequent sale on 19th February 1987.
