The Breguet Classique 5717 Hora Mundi watch introduced at Baselworld 2011 perfectly exemplifies the spirit of classic standards and traditional values that have always characterized Breguet’s creations. Produced in precious materials such as 18-carat pink gold or 950 platinum, three versions of the dial are available, each representing one part of the world: the Americas, Asia and Oceania or, such as the present lot, the European and African continents. Breguet’s teams needed three years to design, develop and perfect this complication watch. It is the first example of a mechanical timepiece with an instant-jump time-zone display. The lot here offered is the pink gold version with a three-body case with transparent back, coin-edge band, 2 crowns, rounded stepped bezel and straight lugs, all preserved in extremely beautiful conditions. The silvered gold dial presents painted radial Roman numerals, outer minute/seconds track, concentric gold map depicting the Europe-Africa continents over hand-engraved wave motif coated with translucent lacquer, apertures for the date at 12, world-time cities at 6 and the moon phases at 4. Together with the watch comes its original box.
