The Portugieser by IWC was firstly introduced over 80 years ago from direct request of two Portuguese businessmen to commission a wristwatch with the precision of a marine chronometer. From that moment on the Portugieser has been explored in many ways by the maison, housing various complications over course of its production, including Kurt Klaus’ signature perpetual calendar module. In 2010, IWC introduced the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar ref. 502121 such as the present lot, offering a 7-Day power reserve as well as a moon phase allowing the wearer to read the indication in its hemisphere. The present example from circa 2010 has a solid and massive white gold 44 mm case with crystal back allowing the owner to see the automatic caliber 51614 that powers the watch. Fitted with a blue dial with white arabic numerals and four subsidiary dials, this very watch is one of the most precious creations by IWC and is offered with its full set of accessories. A perfect value for buck perpetual calendar timepiece suitable for any important occasions.
