Since 1967 the Sea-Dweller has been a favourite within the collection community and with time new technologies evolved allowing for an increased dive rating. 41 years later, at Baselworld 2008, Rolex launched a more massive, thicker and solid version of this spectacular model with a new diving rating of an astonishing 12,800 feet (3900M). This model had reference number 116660 and was called Deepsea, exactly like the present watch: this new watch featured a 5-mm thick sapphire crystal with titanium alloy case back to ensure more rigidity, as well as the patented “Ring Lock System” that reduced stress on the case. The three-body tonneau shape case is in stainless steel and preserved in remarkable conditions with graduated unidirectional revolving bezel for the decompression times and helium escape valve at 9. The black dial has luminous steel round, triangular and baton indexes and luminous steel skeleton hands. The watch is further sold with its original box, papers, tags and booklets.
