The production for the reference 2443 started in 1948, soon becaming really appreciated among watches’ aficionados for its particular shape. The present lot is the only platinum example currently known. A total of 15 other ref.2443 wristwatches are known with a platinum case, however, all of those feature either applied markers or diamond set numerals. The suqare shape of 26 × 26 mm case excluding lugs with snap on back has been realized in platinum, the lapidated lugs are very sturdy compared to the delicacy of the rest of the case and the crown as well is rather massive, but are the unusual stepped edges of the bezel to surprise us. In addition to this, they also fascinate the particular baton indexes applied inside a very clean silver dial with seconds at 6 o’clock. This watch is certainly the demonstration and represents the almost unique possibility of buying an absolutely exceptional watch.
