Time-only watches weren’t the main goal for the Swiss watchmaker but with a widespread economic crisis in the 40’s-50’s, customer’s pockets could not afford exaggerated expenses with buying complicated watches. This pushed Vacheron Constantin to focus its attentions and efforts in the creation of some absolutely interesting and charming dials layout. The present reference 4870 it’s an oversized version of a time-only wristwatch composed of a two body case with concave lugs interlay realized in pink gold and preserved in incredibly fresh conditions. The most interesting thing is undoubtedly the silvered dial adorned with and inner smooth part with perlage for minutes and seconds and a more refined guillochè decoration with applied gold dart and pyramid indexes and Arabic 12. Extremely handsome, this large vintage time-only Vacheron Constantin specimen offers a great value for an all gold watch.
