Bueche Girod was a small watchmaking company founded in 1947. Despite its modest size, its master watchmaker Vital Bueche was well known for producing excellent movements and had many patents including the non-phase and plain calendar. Just a few years after the company’s creation, Vital turned his attention to producing movements and watches for other large companies, such as Cartier or Bulova. Bueche Girod continue to release its own watches, mostly ladies watches with elaborated or jewelry-like design, but in general the production was relatively scarce. For this reason and due to the fact that nowadays the company no longer exists, its watches have become collectors’ items also thanks to their very unusual and extravagant design. One of the most appreciated models Bueche Girod realized was the automatic Mercedes-Benz reference WG 11702-1 such as the lot here offered. The perfect gift for owners or lovers of Mercedes-Benz automobiles, the case has been manufactured in 18k white gold and imitates the make’s unmistakable radiator grill including the 3-branch circled star. The dial as well recalls the layout of the grill with a very thin white grid, gray background, applied pyramid indexes and date at 3 o’clock.
