The Tank is one of the most renown names in horology’s world: from 1917, the year it was officially presented to the world by Cartier, it has been explored in many ways. Following Tank models might look very different, however, like everything that comes from Cartier, the design elements are always clear and recognizable. The Tank collection has become the largest family Cartier’s watch collection, with a huge variety of shapes, materials and sizes. This very lot is a very nice specimen: simple and basic in its design, the Tank here offered has been realized in 18k yellow gold with straight lugs, rounded bezel, a big cabochon sapphire-set winding crown and a screwed back, all preserved in nice conditions. This example is also equipped with a very rare and fancy yellow-gold bracelet of the period that confers the whole watch a bigger presence on the wrist. The white dial has the classical Cartier Tank layout with painted black radial Roman numbers, concentric minute track and blued steel épée hands.
