Founded by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain in Villeret, Switzerland in 1735, Blancpain is the oldest surviving watchmaking brand in the world. In 1953 it produced the famous Fifty Fathoms diving watch and later the Grande Complication wristwatch 1735 and since that time he has specialized in watches with many complications such as this lot. Blancpain’s native village of Villeret lends its name to the most classic collection from the brand. The lot offered here, under the reference 5495-1418-55, is a perfect example of this Villeret family, fully made in yellow gold it has a classical style with a double-stepped case that express essentials with timeless elegance. The clarity of the white dial with applied Roman numbers is completed by lots of functions: Day, Date, Month, Moon Phases and Leap Year. The timelessly elegant this watch incorporates the results of recent research conducted by Blancpain in the field of movement making.
