The Vacheron Constantin 49005 was introduced in 1992 and is the first version of this highly complicated wristwatch made by the firm. It combines a perpetual calendar—meaning it will display the day, date and month continuously, accounting for leap years—along with a moon-phase display and chronograph function, all of which are housed in a fine, in this case, pink-gold case. Part of the “Les Complications” collection is exceptional for its attention to detail and for being powered by the automatic caliber 1136 QP which definitely makes keeping this perpetual calendar watch with the correct date a lot easier. The 38 mm case with stepped bezel and straight lugs is finely preserved and beyond its aesthetic beauty and technical bona fides, this watch features a remarkably clean, legible silvered dial with applied baton indexes outer 1/5th second track with 5-second Arabic markers and subsidiary dials for displaying the complications. With a contemporary appeal and well suited for both casual and formal wear, this watch is perfect for collectors who love perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatches.
