In 2006, exactly thirteen years later its foundation, De Grisogono introduced a new model: the Uno Grande Seconde, which brought sweeping change both to the presentation of passing time and the classic layout of wristwatch dials. The first thing that strikes of the present watch is surely the style of the case: made in steel, its outcurved rectangular shape with mobile lugs perfectly wraps the wrist and, thanks to a crystal back allows the wearer to see the self-winding mechanical movement featuring a proprietary de GRISOGONO auxiliary module. As said, the dial is a study in originality, a perfectly controlled play on levels and contrasts. Squares encounter circles. The engine-turned, hobnailed “Clou de Paris” pattern in the grand tradition meets the very contemporary design of the case. The indication of the time is allowed by a large second’s hand at the center of the dial, while the hours and the minutes are displayed in a sub-dial at 6 o’clock—reversing time-reading habits and bringing a fresh look on time.
