The Seamaster is the longest running product line still produced by Omega. It was introduced in 1948, and was loosely based upon designs made for the British Royal Navy towards the end of World War II. Nowadays a modern concept of this watch was released with the chronograph function like the present lot here offered, under the reference 2198.80.00. The three body case is fully realized in yellow gold with a count-up bezel with a 0–60 scale usually used on dive watches which is especially useful for divers, who need to be aware of decompression time. Nicely preserved, the present watch is equipped with a blue textured surface on its dial with three counters for the chrono and seconds. The glass is made of sapphires, making it exceptionally strong and resistant to scratches and it is completed by an automatic movement caliber 1164, with a frequency of 28800 bph, inside the 41.5 mm of the case and a yellow-gold bracelet.
