Hardly published in literature and scarcely appearing in public, reference 3536 by Rolex is one of the most elusive time-only examples of the firm. In production from the 1930s, represents one of the most unusual “bubble back” models ever made and easily distinguishable from the better-known versions by its unusual design, featuring a round case, a concave or inward-curved enlarged bezel and slender straight lugs. The present specimen immediately strikes for the quality of its steel and pink gold case and grain de riz bracelet that are still in untouched conditions. Furthermore impresses by its extremely attractive black dial with the uncommon double signature printed for both Switzerland and American market, and completed by a fascinating design with Roman numbers, perfectly matching the combination of case and bracelet.
