The Royal Oak is unanimously viewed as one of the most significant wristwatch designs ever produced. Since 1972, the legendary sport-chic watch saw a multitude of variations come to life and finally, in 1997, to mark the Royal Oak 25th anniversary was unveiled the first Chronograph version of this model. While the first complications in the Royal Oak first appeared in the early ’80s, Audemars Piguet took nearly 25 years to change the Royal Oak design by housing two push buttons on the outside of its case. Loyal to the original “Jumbo” diameter measuring 39MM, Audemars Piguet managed to accommodate one of the flattest self-winding chronograph calibers ever made in its time. The Royal Oak reference 25978BC is powered by the cal. 2385 automatic movement, containing 37 jewels. Very iconic and sought after, this model is available in various metals but a very limited production has been made in white gold with diamonds such as the present lot. Perfectly preserved, this specimen also offers a gorgeous 18 kt white-gold full diamond set with luminous hands and sapphire hour markers, chronograph function with three sub-dials displaying: 60 seconds, 30 minutes, 12 hours and a screw down the crown. It is set with 892 diamonds weighing approximately 9.06 total karats that makes this very lot one of the most luxurious Royal Oak ever produced by the firm, making it the perfect piece for shiny wristwatches. Furthermore, this very watch comes with its original box and warranty.
