Reference 6605 is a highly sought-after Rolex Datejust, first introduced in 1956, discontinued in 1959 and fitted with the automatic caliber 1065. In production for only three years, it represents one of the most intriguing and elusive Datejust ever produced with instantaneous date aperture and was available in steel, steel and gold or, such as the lot here offered, in full 18k yellow gold. This very example retains a very high quality case preserved in definitely remarkable conditions with flat back, reeded bezel and sharp edges. The dial is also complemented with the unusual applied gold spade shaped hour markers on an incredibly gorgeous black gilt surface, one of the most appreciated and sought after by collectors. For any collector of rare and interesting vintage Rolex watches, this watch will not disappoint but instead will satisfy at every single glance.
