The model here offered is a re-edition of Cartier’s famous “Driver’s” wristwatch launched in the early 1930s and fitted with a caliber 5”’1/2. Its shape is obviously the most striking feature for how to wear the Driver, this watch is designed with such a configuration that sits within the curvature of the wrist and not on the wrist like any other watch would. In this way, when behind the wheel, the dial will always be in front of the wearer’s eyes. The present watch is numbered 29 of a limited edition of 150 examples made in 1997 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Cartier by Louis-Francois Cartier. Realized in two different versions, one in yellow and another one in white gold, this specimen is a representative of the first family and preserved in very significant conditions. The two bodies bombé case with cylindrical, round bar lugs presents an unusual 18K yellow-gold deployant clasp opening on the lugs at 6 o’clock. The flinqué silver dial has painted radial Roman numerals on a plain outer reserve with secret “Cartier” signature at 10 o’clock and blued steel épée hands.
