Founded in 1791 and located in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Girard-Perregaux is one of the oldest Fine Watchmaking manufacturers still in operation. Its history is dotted with exceptional creations mingling techniques and aesthetics, also creating important partnerships with the sports field, like the present lot. Girard-Perregaux has been a sponsor of the BMW Oracle Racing team since 2005. The Oracle Racing is based at the Golden Gate Yacht Club in San Francisco and is the challenger of record for the America’s Cup. Limited to 750 pieces, this R&D manufactured in titanium features a chronograph, black carbon-fiber dial and a black rubber strap. Furthermore, the watch is extremely interesting since it has the unusual left-hand configuration, where winding crown and chronograph pushers are on the right side of the case instead of the classical opposite position. This watch sports an engraving to the case back of the BMW Oracle racing sail boat and commemorates the USA 87 Challenger of Record for the 2007 America’s Cup. Preserved in basically unworn conditions, the watch comes with its original box and papers.
