The story of Clerc began 140 years ago in Paris with the production of individually crafted pocket watches. This tradition of excellence continued as watches evolved from pocket to wrist. Up until the 1970s, Clerc collaborated with prestigious brands like Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, and Jaeger-LeCoultre. In those years, Clerc was recognized for its avant-garde approach to watchmaking. The brand offered a wide range of models during this time, including dive watches, dress watches, and sporty chronographs, aiming to appeal to a broad audience, from adventurers to the fashion-conscious. The 1970s also saw Clerc experimenting with various materials, such as stainless steel, gold, and other unconventional options for cases and bracelets. This experimentation extended to the use of bold colors and unique textures, contributing to the distinctive look of their timepieces, exactly like the bracelet watch offered here. With a style very similar to many of Piaget’s creations, this watch is incredibly attractive and embodies the spirit of the 1970s: the use of white gold, semi-precious stones (in this case lapis lazuli), and geometric shapes. The watch is remarkably well-preserved, with clear engravings on the back and the engraved decoration on the side and back still very visible. Each link and dial is composed of a rectangular piece of lapis lazuli that adds luminosity and attractiveness to the entire composition. Further sold with its original box and warranty, timepieces like the present one remain a significant chapter in Clerc’s history.
