Debuting in the late 1960s, Rolex references 6263 and 6265 succeeded the pioneering Oyster Cosmograph reference 6240. Specifically introduced in 1969, the reference 6265 remained in production until the late 1980s. A key evolution from the first-generation Cosmograph Daytona, this model incorporated screw-down pushers, reinforcing its water resistance and justifying the addition of the “Oyster” designation on the dial. Available in stainless steel or gold, it also featured an upgraded movement, transitioning from the Valjoux 722 to the more robust and precise Valjoux 727. The present reference 6265, offered in truly incredible condition is a remarkable specimen. Displaying round and intact luminous plots which have all acquired a very charming caramel hue, the dial is furthermore crisp and free of visible flaws. The case, still retaining its factory case back sticker, is preserved in incredibly sharp condition with strong proportions and crisp edges and facets. The present Rolex reference 6265, illustrated in Pucci Papaleo’s book “Daytona Perpetual,” is an outstanding and extremely well-preserved example that we are sure will please any savvy collector.
