A true icon of dive watch design, the Rolex Submariner reference 5513 stands as one of the longest-produced models in the brand’s storied history. Launched in 1962 and produced until 1989, the reference 5513 enjoyed a remarkable 27-year production span, during which it underwent several notable evolutions, particularly in its dial design. Early examples of the reference 5513 featured glossy gilt dials with gold-tone lettering, transitioning over time to matte black dials with configurations of either “meters first” or “feet first” depth ratings. In the final years of its production, Rolex introduced a glossy black dial variant, distinguished by luminous hour markers with white-gold surrounds —a defining trait of later 5513 models. The present example, an L-serial from circa 1989 with extremely interesting importation Portughese hallmarks, is one of the very last Submariner 5513s produced before the reference was officially discontinued. Beautifully preserved, it features an exceptional glossy dial with a deep, rich luster and clean luminous plots. Further enhancing its collectability, this example is offered complete with its original accessories, a rare and desirable addition for discerning collectors.
