Vacheron Constantin’s Les Historiques Jalousie 91002 is an extraordinary timepiece that embodies discretion, refinement, and historical homage. Inspired by early 20th-century secret watches, this model revives the concept of hidden dials, allowing its wearer to control the display of time with an elegant gold shutter mechanism. Crafted in pink gold, the rectangular case measures 25mm in width and 41mm in length, presenting a harmonious blend of classic proportions and sophisticated detailing. The case design is composed of three elements, with a solid gold back secured by four screws, while the band is meticulously engraved, adding depth and texture to the watch’s profile. The defining feature of this piece is the sliding shutter system, operated via a cabochon-set pusher positioned below six o’clock, which gracefully unveils the dial. When closed, the shutters give the watch a jewel-like aesthetic, hiding the time and transforming it into an enigmatic accessory. Once revealed, the matte silver dial is a study in understated elegance, featuring applied pink gold and black baton indexes that create a balanced and legible layout. A subsidiary seconds dial is delicately placed above six o’clock, offering a functional and aesthetic counterpoint to the hour and minute indications. The hands, made of blued steel in a refined feuille shape, contrast beautifully against the soft silver background, enhancing legibility while maintaining an air of classic sophistication. Powering this exceptional timepiece is the manually wound Caliber 1017, a movement composed of 21 jewels, ensuring precise and reliable performance.
