Introduced in 1984 and discontinued by 1989, the reference 3900 – affectionately nicknamed the “Boy Size” Nautilus – remains one of the most distinctive and elusive iterations of Gérald Genta’s iconic design. Measuring just 32mm in diameter, at the time it was the smallest of the Nautilus family, and one of very few to feature a quartz movement, making it both technically and aesthetically unique within the lineage. While the model was produced in a variety of metals including steel, yellow gold, white gold, platinum, and the present two-tone steel and yellow gold configuration, it is estimated that the majority of production was focused on stainless steel, making this bimetallic version a rare variant. Fitted with a deep blue channeled dial – a signature trait of the Nautilus family – and featuring a date aperture at 3 o’clock, the present watch is preserved in attractive condition with its original integrated bracelet. Combining sporty elegance with period charm, this rare Ref. 3900 is a compelling opportunity for collectors drawn to lesser-seen chapters in the Nautilus story.
