Introduced in 1956 as the firm’s most prestigious offering, the Day Date was immediately embraced by world leaders, captains of industry, and, most notably, royalty. Among these timepieces, none are more evocative or awe-inspiring than the exceedingly rare Arabic-script examples made for the Middle Eastern market, often presented by rulers as personal gifts of esteem. The present watch is not merely a reference 1804 — a model already exalted by its platinum case and factory-set diamond bezel — but one of the very finest examples ever to have surfaced publicly. Manufactured in 1968, it features a full Eastern Arabic calendar, with mesmerizing pink gold applied Eastern Arabic numerals set against a breathtaking gold-tone color dial. The case, fashioned entirely in platinum and adorned with a diamond-set bezel of 46 brilliant-cut stones, is paired with a heavy President bracelet, also in platinum, a configuration reserved for Rolex’s most elite clientele. Wearing it on the wrist is akin to carrying history — not only of horology, but of diplomacy, culture, and kingship. Its aura is unmistakable. Few objects can claim such gravitas. Even fewer are destined to remain unforgettable, like this very Day-Date.
