The Cartier Santos Octagon in platinum is a seldom-seen variation of a model deeply rooted in the brand’s legacy. While most collectors are familiar with the steel, yellow or bi-color executions, the present example – cased and bracelet-matched entirely in platinum – elevates the model into a significantly rarer echelon. Its sharp octagonal bezel, fully set with diamonds, frames a warm champagne dial punctuated by twelve brilliant-cut diamond indexes – each securely set and well-preserved.
Of particular note is the bracelet: not only crafted in platinum – a metal notoriously difficult to work with – but also enhanced by diamond-set end links, lending an additional touch of opulence to an already exclusive configuration.
While Cartier’s modern offerings continue to evolve, pieces such as this harken back to a period when the maison explored bold shapes, precious materials, and elegant refinement in equal measure. Few examples in platinum surface publicly, and even fewer with such a rich combination of diamonds and great conditions.
