Among the most charismatic time-only wristwatches ever produced by Patek Philippe, reference 1536 remains a marvel of early 20th-century watchmaking. Made between 1940 and 1948, it is one of the first references to feature a central seconds hand powered by the celebrated caliber 12-120 SC, enclosed in robust, architecturally balanced cases by master casemaker Wenger. The present specimen, cased in pink gold with a pink two-tone dial, is a true rarity—one of fewer than a handful known. Its dial, crafted by Stern Frères, exhibits long raised enamel signature and scales, matched by faceted pink gold baton hands and a vivid blued central seconds hand. The sharply sculpted conical lugs root the watch boldly on the wrist, while the hallmark on the side of the case remains crisp and fully legible. An exceptional example of mid-century Geneva craftsmanship, this 1536 not only offers rarity and elegance, it represents a moment when Patek Philippe pushed the boundaries of design and movement architecture with the utmost restraint and class.
