Gérald Genta is universally regarded as one of the most influential and visionary watch designers of the 20th century. Born in Geneva in 1931, he trained as a jeweler and goldsmith, a background that profoundly shaped his approach to watchmaking and design. His unmistakable aesthetic language gave life to some of the most iconic timepieces ever created, including the Royal Oak, Nautilus and Pasha.
In 1969, he founded his own manufacture, Gérald Genta, which granted him complete creative freedom to merge high complications with daring yet harmonious design. The present timepiece is a refined embodiment of that philosophy.
This watch features a 36mm yellow gold case with a softly rounded octagonal profile, a signature Genta form that blends geometric precision with elegant fluidity. The dial is rendered in a rich anthracite tone, at 12 o’clock sits a moon phases display in deep blue lapis lazuli, adding both poetic charm and rich contrast. Applied diamond hour markers enhance the dial’s luminosity and refinement, while the bezel is lavishly set with multiple rows of brilliant-cut diamonds, reinforcing the piece’s jewelry-watch character.
The integrated yellow gold bracelet, with its intricate woven texture, completes the design and emphasizes the seamless continuity between case and bracelet.
This timepiece ultimately stands as a testament to Gérald Genta’s extraordinary talent for uniting bold design and artistic creativity with the technical mastery required to execute such a significant complication as the perpetual calendar.
