The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Reference 25820 was produced between 1996 and 2010 and is notable for being one of the longest-running perpetual calendar references within the Royal Oak line, with a total production of approximately 1,241 pieces across all metals. The model is powered by the ultra-thin caliber 2120/2802, a development of the legendary 2120 base, and it marked an important technical evolution by introducing, for the first time in the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar series, the leap year indication on the dial. The present example belongs to one of the rarest and most unusual configurations of the reference: the tantalum and platinum version, designated Reference 25820TP. This variant was originally planned as a limited edition of 15 pieces; however, apparently only 9 examples were ultimately produced, all in 1997, making it exceptionally scarce even within the already limited production of the 25820 series. The use of tantalum, a dense and highly corrosion-resistant metal with a distinctive bluish-grey tone, gives the watch a unique visual character and a remarkable tactile presence on the wrist, while the platinum components add contrast and elevate the overall sense of luxury. The watch features a refined grey opaline dial fitted with white gold hands and applied white gold hour markers, completing a design that is both understated and highly elegant, in keeping with the Royal Oak’s distinctive identity.Preserved in beautiful overall condition, this exceptionally rare piece remains a truly special and highly collectible example.
