Elegant and highly sought-after, reference 1579 represents one of the most refined expressions of Patek Philippe’s post-war design language. Produced about from 1943 until 1964, the model is distinguished by its sculptural “spider” lugs, whose elongated, faceted architecture lends the watch a sophisticated and unmistakable presence. The present example, manufactured in 1954 and cased in pink gold, stands out for its excellent overall state of preservation. The case retains full proportions with well defined edges, while the complex geometry of the lugs remains crisp and particularly attractive. The dial is of the desirable “indelible” type, characterized by its hard enamel signature, a feature prized by collectors for both its durability and distinctive period-correct appearance. From around 1948 onwards, Patek Philippe dials feature the short “Patek Philippe” signature, rendered without “& Co.” and applied in enamel, consistent with this example and contributing to the dial’s clean, balanced aesthetic. Compared to other celebrated Patek Philippe chronograph references such as the 1463 or the 130, reference 1579 was produced in significantly smaller numbers. According to scholarship, approximately 470 examples were manufactured across all metals, with only around 185 pieces cased in pink gold. These restrained production figures further contribute to the rarity and desirability of the model, particularly in pink gold and in well-preserved condition. The watch is further accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1954, as well as its presentation box. The presence of these accessories, combined with the strong overall condition, further enhances the collectability of the present timepiece. Rarely encountered in pink gold and preserved in such attractive condition, this reference 1579 represents a compelling opportunity for collectors seeking an iconic Patek Philippe with desirable dial configuration, low production numbers, and documented archival confirmation.
