The present Tank Cintrée represents an exceptionally rare special order piece, produced in platinum during the mid 2000s. The dramatically elongated and curved case exemplifies the elegance of the Cintrée model, originally introduced in 1921 and widely considered among the purest expressions of Cartier’s design language. Distinguished by its number “2”, the present watch suggests production at the very beginning of this special commission, further enhancing its exclusivity. According to the present configuration and markings, the watch was manufactured following a specific client request, resulting in a combination of features not encountered in standard production. The watch features a manually wound mechanical movement in keeping with Cartier’s tradition of pairing refined watchmaking with timeless aesthetics. The platinum case is complemented by a traditional cabochon crown and a white gold deployant clasp. The dial is particularly appealing, featuring elegant blued Roman numerals over a finely silvered base, with the discreet “Made in France” signature positioned at 6 o’clock. This detail is also repeated on the caseback, where it is engraved beneath the French hallmarks, a highly unusual characteristic that further supports the special order nature of the present timepiece. The composition is completed by a chemin de fer minute track and Breguet style blued steel hands, all following the curvature of the iconic Cintrée case.
