Designed by the celebrated Gérald Genta, the Ingenieur SL introduced a bold and unmistakable interpretation of the luxury sports watch, combining a highly geometric case with an integrated bracelet. The Ingenieur Chrono Alarm continued this distinctive design language in the 1990s, adding the unusual combination of a chronograph, alarm, date and subsidiary indications. The present example is an exceptionally rare interpretation of the reference, crafted entirely in 18K white gold, including its characteristic integrated bracelet. The black dial features the distinctive red alarm hand and a floral emblem associated with the special presentation watches commissioned for the Royal Court of Brunei. Such watches are known to bear emblems connected to members of the Brunei royal family, with floral motifs particularly associated with Prince Jefri Bolkiah. The combination of Genta’s design, the extremely unusual white-gold configuration and the Royal Court of Brunei presentation emblem makes the present Ingenieur Chrono Alarm an exceptionally rare and intriguing example of IWC creations of the 1990s.
