Founded in Geneva in 1894, Universal Genève established itself during the 20th century as one of Switzerland’s most innovative watch manufactures, renowned for its refined movements and elegant, often unconventional designs. During the 1950s, the maison produced a number of jewellery watches that combined traditional watchmaking with the sculptural character of precious-metal objects. The present 18K pink gold bangle watch is a particularly elegant example of this aesthetic. The small circular watch head is seamlessly integrated into the polished bracelet, balanced by a rounded, domed terminal and decorative ridges. The ivory-coloured dial features applied gilt indexes, Arabic numerals at 12 o’clock and delicate gilt hands. Powered by a manual-winding movement, the watch is accompanied by its original burgundy Universal Genève presentation case.
