Introduced in 1996, the Carnegie collection formed part of Audemars Piguet’s particularly creative approach to watch design during the 1990s. Conceived as a jewellery-oriented collection, the Carnegie was characterised by its distinctive tonneau-shaped case and the extensive use of precious metals and gemstones, with examples produced in a variety of highly decorative configurations. The collection reflects the Manufacture’s long-standing expertise in combining fine watchmaking with the art of gem-setting. The present example is distinguished by an 18k yellow gold case, lavishly set with brilliant-cut diamonds along the bezel and striking baguette-cut rubies adorning the case and lugs. The watch is further enhanced by a delicate pink mother-of-pearl dial, featuring alternating diamond- and ruby-set hour markers. Particularly noteworthy is the elaborate matching bracelet, composed of multiple rows of pearls interspersed with diamond-set yellow-gold links, creating an exceptionally rich and distinctive aesthetic.
