Launched in the second half of the 1950s, the reference 6582 was mainly available in stainless steel and gold and only an extremely limited numbers were manufactured in full yellow gold, such as the lot here offered. This model was affectionately called “Zephyr” by Rolex lovers is immediately recognizable by its unusual, so-called “astral” bezel featuring engraved hour and minute markers. In production until 1959 when it was replaced by the reference 1008, it represents a truly fancy and nice creation and the lot here offered is even more intriguing for many reasons. First of all, the quality of the 14k yellow-gold case with screwed-down case back and crown and the distinctive “astral” graduated bezel. Secondly, the black lacquered dial with applied triangular gold and airplanes/star-shaped indexes. Last but not least, it documents: it is indeed equipped with its original warranty and bulletin de Marche, an extremely rare feature for a watch dated back to 1958 and thus making it very desirable.
