At the end of the seventies in the full crisis of Swiss watchmaking, the Japanese invade the world markets with quartz watches, the Geneva Maison decides to propose a new line of watches to combat this phenomenon. The watch was first introduced in 1976 and the movement took Rolex 5 years to develop: the quartz movement was revolutionary, the precision was better than before, and the movement was the future they believed. This Day Date Oysterquartz is fitted with a very audacious and eye-catching dial Rolex has ever produced. It is a true rarity with a two type of wooden dial and applied precious stones: a total of 28 brilliant-cut diamonds are, furthermore, enhanced by 2 diamond with a baguette cut nestled between each index for the 6 and 9 hours all put on a Birch & Burl wood type surface. It is equipped with a reference 19148 in full 18k yellow gold in outstanding conditions, making understand that this wristwatch has been worn only occasionally in all its life. Furthermore, the present dial is perfectly complimented by the diamond-set bezel like as the gold Oysterquartz bracelet still showing their original finish. The design of the Rolex Oysterquartz is totally detached from the classic line and develops typical shapes for that era: totally squared case, integrated bracelet with satin and polished finishes, sapphire crystal.
