Every single watch of Vacheron Constantin is characterized by absolute perfection and impresses with the firm character. One of the most flamboyant models the brand has produced is surely the Toledo, with a design that is reminiscent of the flowing designs of American automobile design of the 1950s. It was first released in the early 1950s and had a truly unique case shape that provided diversity to the classic watch shapes that Vacheron Constantin typically made. The case is described as being a “large, stepped, curved square” and the Toledo later became known by collectors as Cioccolatone by Italian collectors. This referred to chocolate squares that are very popular in Italy. The “Cioccolatone” was made in different versions, such as with or without a date, with different movements and also with an extremely sought after full calendar with the moon phase model. Also a lady version has been produced in the 1990s with a fancy and elegant taste. The lot here offered is a gorgeous specimen of reference 11100, the feminine version of the Toledo with a case size of 24 × 29 mm. Preserved in very nice condition and all the engravings on the back perfectly clear, the “guilloché” off-white dial has applied gold pyramidal and dart indexes on a plain reserve.
