Eberhard’s history with chronographs dates back to 1919 when it gave life to its first example that was activated by only one pusher. In 1935, the company presented the two-button chronograph and only four years later Eberhard further raised the bar presenting its first ever split seconds. The present watch is fitted with an interesting and rarely seen implementation of the split-second chronograph complication. The start, stop and reset functions are all controlled by a single push piece that is integrated into the winding crown. The top pusher is responsible for the split-second function, meant to measure intermediate times without interrupting the timekeeping of an event. The 40 mm case, really huge at that time, has been manufactured in stainless steel and preserved in remarkable conditions with intact stepped bezel, reeded winding crown and oval pushers. The silvered dial has a pretty much clean configuration allowing an easy reading with two subsidiary counters for 30 minutes and constant second registration, an external tachymeter scale, painted Arabic numbers and blue steel epèe hands. Possibly one of the nicest ever seen appearing on the market, the present split seconds is in outstanding conditions and an absolute preciousness in terms of collectability.
